Stella, Michela & the hotel staff have the pleasure of suggesting itineraries in Venice: you may wish to buy the tourist transport ticket for 72 hours at Lit. 35,000 per person (Lit. 6,000 per regular one-hour ticket) or the Lit. 18,000 daily ticket.
For a 3-night stay in Venice: on the morning of the first day departure from Lido at about 9:00 am. Go directly to S. Marks Square; after 10 minutes of navigation by Vaporetto you could visit the famous Basilica and the Prisons. Then you could buy a special ticket (Lit. 17,000) to visit the Ducal Palace and the Correr Museum; if you don't have time to visit the museum you can visit it the following afternoon.
At 2:55 PM a public boat departs from S. Zaccaria station to S. Lazzaro degli Armeni: positioned between Venice and Lido, it has been the home of the flourishing monastery of the Armenian monks for 250 years. In flight from Turkish persecution, these "Mechitarists", named after their founder Mechitar, who celebrate the catholic faith with oriental rites, sought refuge in Venice in 1703. In this little island, you can visit a church and one of the oldest libraries of Venice. You can return to S. Zaccaria around 5 o' clock p.m. Entrance costs Lit. 8,000 per person. We recommend this Island because is a different way to see our wonderful city. In fact, S. Lazzaro was closed to visitors until eight years ago, so few people knew of it... maybe you will not even find it in your Venice guide.
The second day by fast boat you can visit a glass factory on the island of Murano, where you can see work in progress and the results of the artisans creative efforts (This tour can be booked one day in advance). From here, by public boat, you can easily reach the graceful Burano, a fishing island with colorful houses, famous for its lace manufacture. Here the restaurants are well worth stopping for!
Then at a short distance by boat there is Torcello Island, a quiet romantic place where Hemingway spent most of his time in Venice.
From Torcello return to Fondamente Nove and walk to S. Mark's Square.
We suggest this Route by Lagoon because Venice has so many places to visit that it is very important to organize your time well. Upon your arrival we are here to explain other itineraries, depending on how many days you wish to spend here.
